Migraine-like headaches, chronic pain and the jaw system

Clear articles on the cause that is most often overlooked in headaches. Without jargon, without promises – and with an honest note on where the limits lie.

Diagram, labelled in German, with five people each holding a painful part of
the body: head and neck, ear and jaw joint, face, shoulder and back, and both
sides of the head. Below each, a list of typical complaints, from tension
headaches and jaw joint clicking to sleep disorders and exhaustion.
Five patterns of complaints that can originate in the jaw system. Migraine-like headaches are only one of them.

How you should read these articles. They are for information and do not replace a diagnosis. Where we describe a connection with the jaw system, we say how well it is supported – for the head, face and neck there is a sound basis; for the ear, balance and posture further down, the evidence is inconsistent. What follows then is our clinical experience and is expressly marked as such.
